Let's face it. We love getting mail and when our mailboxes are burgeoning with greeting card envelopes, special occasions become even more memorable. Colored envelopes usually indicate that the message inside is out of the ordinary. It could be an announcement or greeting. Square envelopes first became popular with advertisers. They added the new element of dimension to attention-getting envelopes. They caught people's interest, so they would want to see what was inside. It wasn't long after that square envelopes became a way to spruce up greeting cards of all kinds.
On our display pages you'll see many types of envelopes. In our square collection alone, you'll find endless options. Brown bag, translucent and metallic are just some of the stationary envelope choices available.
As long as we continue to send things in the mail, new specialty envelope trends will emerge.
We've come a long way since the Pony Express. That's when letters had to be wrapped in oil silk and placed in a mochila, the leather sling that fit over the horse's saddle. While we may not even have to go outdoors to place a letter in the mail slot, in the days of the Pony Express mail was a life and death matter. Riders would travel on horseback for hours only to get to the station to find it had been burned to the ground. Even the advertisements for new riders would ask that they be expert riders and willing to risk death daily!
